Key Responsibilities:
- RF Network Design: Utilize Atoll to design and optimize the radio access network (RAN) for both LTE and 5G technologies. Perform RF coverage and capacity planning for macro, small cell, and in-building networks.
- Atoll Simulation & Modeling: Develop, configure, and simulate network models to perform drive test analysis and plan for network expansion. Utilize Atoll for coverage, interference, capacity planning, and propagation modeling.
- Site Surveys & Optimization: Support site design, ensuring that the RF parameters align with network performance goals. Optimize the network design based on coverage, interference, and customer experience.
- Network Optimization: Proactively identify areas for RF network optimization, including troubleshooting signal issues, interference mitigation, and ensuring high quality of service (QoS) for customers.
- Data Analysis: Analyze drive test data and field measurements to develop recommendations for network performance improvements. Use Atoll to verify and enhance coverage and capacity models.
- Collaboration: Work closely with RF engineers, field engineers, and project managers to ensure that the network design aligns with overall network goals and timelines.
- Documentation & Reporting: Provide detailed reports and presentations on RF design projects, including coverage maps, network capacity, and performance improvements. Ensure all designs adhere to Verizon’s quality and safety standards.
- Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors and third-party contractors to ensure the successful deployment and integration of RF solutions, with a focus on achieving optimal network performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Atoll Expertise: Proficiency in Atoll RF Planning and Optimization Software is a must.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in RF design, optimization, and network planning within the wireless telecommunications industry.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of LTE, 5G, small cells, in-building solutions (iDAS/oDAS), and site design.
- Software Proficiency: Experience using Atoll, MapInfo, and Drive Test tools. Familiarity with other RF planning tools like TEMS or Actix is a plus.
- Network Design: Ability to plan, design, and optimize cellular networks, including detailed knowledge of propagation models, interference management, and coverage planning.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data from drive tests, network probes, and performance statistics.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, vendors, and customers.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5G Network Knowledge: Understanding of 5G NR (New Radio) technologies and the specific requirements for 5G network deployment.
- Certifications: Additional certifications in RF Design, Network Optimization, or Atoll.
- Project Management: Experience in managing RF design projects and working with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Office Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits for surveys and network troubleshooting.
- Travel: Occasional travel to site locations as needed for field support, site surveys, and testing.
