Position Summary:The custodial staff is responsible for ensuring the facility meets or exceeds standards of cleanliness to the utmost in guest satisfaction before, during, and after all events. Custodial staff must be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Custodial staff must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below.
This role will pay $16.44/hour (after 90-day probationary period)
Benefits for PT roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. Also, OVG provides part-time, seasonal, and internship employees with one hour of accrued paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.
The XL Center is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.
The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.
The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.
Responsibilities:- Arrives for each scheduled shift on time, in uniform and ready to work
- Ability to work morning, afternoon and/or overnight shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand on feet for up to 8 hours at a time, to kneel, stoop, climb stairs and reach above head as well as perform repetitive motions in connection with cleaning tasks
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and read written instructions, especially cleaning products and SDS
- Performs light and heavy cleaning tasks including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, etc., sweeping, mopping, and disposing of garbage
- Restocks restrooms with supplies
- Works safely, quickly and efficiently to meet all deadlines
- Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor and acknowledges guests in a friendly manner
- All other tasks assigned by Supervisor
- Cleaning or event related experience preferred
- Basic understanding of how to use cleaning equipment
- Ability to operate scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, etc.
- Basic understanding of SDS
- Basic understanding of PPE
