We are looking for a Critical Facilities Operations Electrician to support a critical data center. The Critical Facility Electrician will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments, directing technical and administrative tasks related to the operation of the critical facility infrastructure and assuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures. The Data Center is a 7x24x365 a year operation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on operation, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on critical electrical systems, including low/medium voltage switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, generators, and other critical infrastructure
- Monitor and ensure compliance with operational, maintenance, and safety procedures (MOPs and SOPs)
- Collect data and perform system readings to analyze performance and identify areas for improvement
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment issues to minimize downtime
- Oversee contractors and vendors, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Lead teams for specific installations or repairs as needed, providing technical expertise and ensuring successful project execution
- Provide support for customer "smart hands" services, assisting with equipment and network needs
- Participate in the training and mentorship of junior technicians to build team expertise
- Respond promptly to emergencies, taking a lead role in troubleshooting and resolution
- Assist with CMMS database management and reporting
- Ensure the data center complies with all local, state, and federal regulations
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in critical facilities operations with expertise in electrical systems, including UPS systems, generators, PDUs, switchgear, Power Systems, DC Power Systems, and building monitoring / control systems and related infrastructure
- Journeyman-level certification or equivalent training in electrical systems (Washington State EL01 certification preferred)
- Hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems such as: CRAC Units, CRAH Units, Chillers, Air handling units, computer grade cooling systems, and CRAH Units from an electrical perspective a plus
- Strong technical understanding of data center infrastructure systems
- Must have experience in operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of Mission Critical Mechanical and/or Electrical Support Systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CMMS systems
- Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement process improvements for system operations and cost reduction
- Experience leading teams or mentoring junior staff is a plus
