Non-Profit Accounting Supervisor
Columbus, OH
Our client is a non-profit organization with an easy-going environment and a family-oriented culture. They are seeking a skilled Accountant to join their finance team as the Accounting Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and leadership of the finance/accounting team. This person would be reporting to the CFO and would be responsible for three (3) direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the finance department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations
- Lead and optimize the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance
- Manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work output
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws and regulations
- Provide comprehensive support during internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries
- Perform and review complex account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of financial data
- Manage the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing insights to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets, identifying areas for cost savings and operational efficiency
- Oversee cash management and treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and management of banking relationships
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements
- Implement and maintain robust financial systems and processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability initiatives
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed, offering financial expertise and guidance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Supervisory experience is a plus
