We currently have an opportunity for a Cost Control Engineer in Riverdale, MD. The Cost Control Engineer shall perform all aspects of cost control in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner which includes assessing and reviewing subcontract invoices, control and assign costs on site, assisting with the preparation of budgets and reports in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Monitor cost, prepare cost reports, forecasts and budgets in accordance with established company and project policies and procedures.
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with the project team, and liaison with departments to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness for overall project business operations. Facilitate the coordination between Business Operations and Project Controls.
- Provide functional advice and support to managers in the organization for development, implementation and maintenance of field job cost processes.
- Train/review project procedures and processes during job start up cycle, to ensure that projects run efficiently.
- Provide job cost system technical support and training for new and existing employees.
- Review/approve budget & contract change orders, as required prior to entry into cost system to ensure accuracy.
- Audit project quantities.
- Manage job cost accounting functions.
- Prepares and presents monthly financial reports to upper management concerning cost, and forecasts.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction
- Expert understanding of the application of project controls in the construction environment.
- Ability to provide guidance and development for all stakeholders of the business and project controls functions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a close attention to detail
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with consistent follow through
- Demonstrated MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills

- Self-starter; able to seek out resources and structure own workflow.
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff as well as external customers.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
