Cost Accounting Manager – Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead cost accounting functions, analyzing business activities such as raw material, direct labor, and fixed/variable overhead costs. Collect data and produce accurate reports.
• Review product designs, raw materials, manufacturing methods, and services to understand how changes impact costs, and analyze actual manufacturing costs.
• Prepare and provide management with detailed reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, helping to identify trends and variances.
• Play a key role in preparing quotes for new business by collaborating with sales, engineering, and other teams to gather necessary data and create accurate and competitive cost estimates for customers.
• Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of the cost accounting system, making improvements to drive greater accuracy and efficiency.
• Manage the compilation of parts and manufacturing costs, inventory accountability, and verification of actual costs, ensuring all cost variances are properly investigated and reported.
• Prepare cost estimates for new or special products, establish standard costs, and assist with manufacturing expense budgeting and year-end reporting.
• Help to analyze and report product costs, ensuring variances are investigated and necessary reports are generated.

Who You Are:

• You bring strong leadership to the table and are not afraid to take ownership of your role, consistently delivering on plans and driving results.
• You have a background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, ideally with experience in custom manufacturing or process/continuous flow manufacturing.
• You have the ability to quickly learn and adapt to existing systems and processes, even if they are older or manual in nature.
• You have experience working cross-functionally, particularly with sales and engineering teams, to create accurate cost estimates and quotes for new business.
• You excel in analyzing data, identifying trends, and using that information to improve processes and decision-making.
• You possess strong communication skills and are able to provide clear and actionable financial insights to management.
