About the Job
As the Corporate Tax Senior Manager – RIC & Hedge Funds, you’ll deliver personalized relationship driven services to create demand in the while leading engagement teams for Corporate Tax Solutions in the asset management industry, specifically for RIC & hedge fund clients – all with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. You’ll collaborate with other team members and specialists in our tax practice to support all areas of the client’s tax functions, because together is how we succeed. From day one, you’ll be empowered by our tools, technology, training, and support from other team members to take responsibility to work with and lead multiple engagement teams and help you achieve more, confidently.
Your day-to-day may include:
+ Utilizing previous consulting and industry experience to help companies set and achieve their long-term goals
+ Leading multiple client service delivery teams in the active execution of engagements to help ensure compliance with firm and practice unit service delivery standards
+ Managing, developing, training, coaching and mentoring staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
+ Performing engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management
+ Meeting or exceeding targeted billing hours (utilization)
+ Supporting business development activities, such as identification, proposal development and other pursuit activities at clients
+ Adhering to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
+ Working closely with Grant Thornton Principals and Managing Directors as well as other team members to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues
+ Working at a client site, with your team in the office or remotely. We empower teams to listen first to expectations of clients and teammates; then you and your team can determine when and where to work. No matter when or where, you will have the support you need to thrive.
+ Other duties as assigned
You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced or Master’s degree preferred.
+ A minimum of 8 plus years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing clients at a national level.
+ Relevant certification such as a CPA or active law license is required. If you do not hold a relevant certification at time of hire, you must be able to earn one within 18 months of starting with Grant Thornton.
+ Experience in corporate income tax and strong ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes skills
+ Advanced experience in the RIC & hedge funds / asset management industry.
+ The right person should have experience and an advanced understanding of regulated investment companies, Subchapter M, section 4982 excise calculations, taxation of securities and derivatives, and Subchapter C as well as Subchapter K.
+ Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations
+ Exceptional client service, communication skills, interpersonal, and presentation skills
+ Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases
+ Ability to travel as needed.
+ The salary range for this position in Manhattan, NYC only is between $164,000 and $246,000.
