We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate General Counsel with experience in employment law to join our dynamic in-house legal team. This will be a full-time, in-office role located in our Berwyn, Illinois office reporting directly to General Counsel. The successful candidate will have significant experience collaborating with HR departments to advise on employee matters across several states as well as managing employment-related litigation. While this role will be focused on U.S. employment law, this is also a unique opportunity to gain exposure to international labor and employment law.
This position is onsite at Berwyn, Illinois.
Responsibilities:- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, company policies, and employee
handbooks in collaboration with Human Resources and Legal. - Proactively advise on current and emerging federal and state employment law in the U.S.
and across 16 states. - Provide strategic guidance to General Counsel and Human Resources regarding employee
matters posing a legal risk to the company. - Conduct internal and external investigations of various issues and recommend options for
resolution. - Manage employment-related litigation and alternative dispute resolution with external
counsel - Assist General Counsel with various legal matters as needed.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memorandums for business leaders regarding various
local, state, and federal regulations impacting the firm. - Manage legal projects and fulfill firmwide legal requests as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to condense and convey
complex legal issues simply and effectively. - Team-player mentality that’s prepared to work across the organization to manage risk and
advance company-wide goals. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently to assess
complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice. - Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
- Willingness to understand legal concepts in various international jurisdictions and work
collaboratively with local counsel to accomplish firm objectives. - 5-7 years of professional experience with at least 2-3 years of employment law specific
practice. - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school (required)
- Admission to the IL State Bar and in good standing (required)

*Compensation range for this position is $120,000 / $150,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. This range is provided as a general guideline and does not guarantee a specific salary. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In addition to our regular benefits will include bar dues and a CLE stipend.
