Job Description:
Seneca Holdings has an immediate opening for a qualified Corporate Accountant in our Williamsville, NY office. The Accountant will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Centralize, maintain & register numerous companies for state payroll, sales tax and secretary of state filings
- Research payroll reporting requirements by state
- Review taxability and reporting of compensation related matters
- Research multi-state sales tax exemption requirements
- Prepare license returns for state and county jurisdictions
- Apply advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, assist with preparing financial statements, and supporting compliance audits
- Reconcile and schedule monthly balance sheet accounts & expense accounts for numerous companies
- Assist A/R and A/P team during staff absences
- Assist review of daily trade and G&A expenses for project, account and org accuracy
- Engage with outside auditors, assist as needed
- Engage with DCAA auditors, assist as needed
- Assist with DCAA Incurred Cost submissions
Qualifying Requirements:
- Three (3) years of experience in corporate accounting
- B.S. Accounting preferred
- Experience with project-based ERP and payroll systems (ADP preferred)
- Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting required; knowledge of government contract accounting principles and FAR a significant plus
- Proficient in computers and standard office applications (specifically in Microsoft Excel)
- Demonstrated capacity for attention to detail and accuracy of work product
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information, and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
