About the Job
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the ordering, receipt, handling, and issuance of materials. Cooperates with user areas in investigating and responding to material requests.
- Coordinates the facilities, clerical operations and preparation of computer input data for assigned location. Travels to warehouse/storeroom/stockroom locations to conduct inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure good condition, perform safety audits, and monitor field staff assignments.
- Reviews stock status and coordinates appropriate actions to ensure material availability. May be required to lift and transport material to various locations utilizing department issued vehicle.
- Investigates stock outs and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
- Assists in inventory audits and in the disposition of obsolete or surplus materials. May be required to lift, move, and maneuver materials and equipment.
- Monitors the submission of payroll information and related materials.
- Assists in the planning, review, evaluation, and development of policies, procedures, and programs related to the material handling activities.
- Assists Senior Supply Chain Management personnel in the development of training and instruction programs. Trains and instructs assigned personnel in the performance of duties.
- Coordinates and submits weekly work schedules and assignments. Investigates and submits reports of rule violations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

CHALLENGES
• Providing optimum service to internal customers to meet Bus/Rail service delivery and facilities demands.
• Reducing inventory levels while maintaining service levels to our customers.
• Increasing worker productivity by closely monitoring daily activity and productivity demand reports.
• Attaining departmental budget reductions by effectively scheduling of assigned personnel.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in Supply Chain Operations, computerized inventory management and material handling operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to this position.
• Required to have or be able to obtain a valid state of Illinois Driver’s License (DL).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity, and fingering for working with computer keyboards.
• Must be able to lift and carry parts, equipment, supplies, etc., up to 60 pounds, and maneuver material to 100 pounds.
• May require walking, stooping, bending and kneeling.

• Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Working knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and procedures of inventory control.
• General Knowledge of RF Smart Technology (Barcode/Scanning).
• General knowledge of the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which apply to warehousing operations.
• General knowledge of labor agreements and work rules that apply to assigned personnel.
• General knowledge of union contracts and working with union workers.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise the activities of assigned personnel.
• Ability to analyze complex inventory problems, evaluate alternatives and reach sound conclusions.
• Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Resources Planning Systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Exposed to usual warehouse/stockroom/shop conditions, including exposure to yard conditions, noise, dust and moving equipment.
• Subject to extreme weather conditions when working on dock; this includes extreme cold, extreme heat, rain, snow, humidity, etc.
• Exposed to noise from overhead blowers; heater motors.
• Exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes from running engines of trucks on dock, odors from dock area, oil room, and dust within warehouse facilities.

• Standard office equipment.
• Mechanical picking equipment.
• Forklift operations, vertical and moveable storage units.
• RF Scan Gun Technology and Equipment
