Requirements:
To work as a cook at Popeyes, you don’t need a formal degree – a high school diploma or a GED is sufficient. However, if you do have previous experience, especially in a similar position, you will be considered a good person to hire.
As a cook at Popeyes, you will be expected to perform many duties such as preparing meats and other ingredients. Moreover, you will be required to operate and maintain equipment like grills and fryers.
Work standing and lift heavy objects up to but not limited to 50lbs.
Keeping a sanitized and clean work area will be your responsibility. Also, it will be your work to ensure that all food items are properly stored. Checking the quality of ingredients will also be part of your job description.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain liaison with order takers in order to determine customers’ requirements.
• Operate equipment such as grills and fryer.
• Prepare food items such as meats and buns.
• Marinate meats according to recipes.
• Fry or grill meats.
• Check inventory in order to ensure that it has sufficient supplies.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment within the kitchen.
• Ensure that all food items are properly stored and rotated.
• Weight ingredients before mixing them in.
• Check food and ingredients in order to ensure that they are fresh.
• Garnish food items according to set instructions.
• Regulate the temperature of ovens and grills.
• Wash, peel, and cut ingredients for frying and grilling purposes.
• Ensure that the safe handling procedures are followed.
• Oversee the cleanliness and sanitization of kitchen surfaces.
• Order food items from vendors.
• Ensure that received food items are properly packed and stored.
• Perform food rotation activities lest the food goes bad.
• Ensure that prepared items are properly labeled.
• Monitor food levels.
• Communicate low supply situations to kitchen supervisors.
• Monitor product quality and freshness.
• Address customers’ concerns such as food quality and portioning.
• Perform accurate garnishing activities.
• Monitor other cooks to ensure the delivery of exceptional services.
• Provide assistance to other cooks during rush hours or large orders.
• Ensure that health and safety standards are constantly met.
• Perform preventative and regular maintenance on grill and fryers.
The Cook is responsible for preparation and cooking of food products and for the care and cleanliness of the equipment in the kitchen area. The Cook will monitor shortening levels, conditioning and filtering throughout the day. A qualified candidate will be responsible for keeping fresh product available and for monitoring holding times on products.
Qualifications
- Stand for up to 8 hours
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Use motion that entails pushing, pulling, stretching and continuous bilateral use of fingers and wrists
