Cook - International Leadership of Texas

Interested in being a Chef driven by purpose? At ILTexas, our Chefs support 100 international students at our flagship campus. In this role, you will support students with a nutritious meal and a taste of home through your cooking. This role follows the school calendar! You will enjoy Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break.

Primary Purpose:

To provide each school child with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring. This position will serve ILTexas International students.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Related Certificate Required

At least 2 years’ experience required

Food Servsafe Manager Certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to perform a variety of tasks, ability to be flexible when asked to perform numerous tasks simultaneously, perform under deadlines and work in a calm, sensible and efficient manner

Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality

Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance

Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them

Experience:

Experience in cooking Asian meals is preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assumes responsibility for the security of food and supplies.

1. Supervises the storage and care of foods and supplies.

1. Help with preparation and serving of menus at the school.

1. Cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage and dining areas.

1. Knowledgeable sanitation procedures and demonstrate while working.

1. Keep up with cleaning schedules for the day.

1. Notifies the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.

1. Provide assistance and suggestions for the preparation and serving for Head Chef.

Interrelations:

1. Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy

1. Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues

1. Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

1. In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave

1. All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of IL Texas and is appropriate for their position

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Must always comply with ILTexas guidelines for equipment use.

Posture: Prolonged standing, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Must be able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and reach overhead; lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds or more with assistance

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
