What You Will Do
The Controls Engineer independently manages engineering projects from
design through implementation, focusing on the development of
manufacturing equipment, processes, and tooling. They create innovative,
practical solutions that meet customer requirements and drive successful
project execution with internal and external teams.
This role involves researching, specifying, and implementing new
automation and equipment, while continuously improving existing
processes by identifying cost reduction and productivity opportunities.
The Controls Engineer also provides leadership and support to a diverse
team of engineers and professionals. In this role, the Controls Engineer
will:
- Lead complex manufacturing engineering projects, applying advanced
principles to drive results.
- Conduct in-depth technical investigations, prioritizing project
aspects, developing test plans, and owning results.
- Manage all phases of large-scale projects, ensuring timely
completion within budget, conducting feasibility studies, and
developing criteria and cost estimates.
- Communicate project progress and results through clear,
comprehensive documentation.
- Resolve complex, undefined issues by implementing improvements and
conducting feasibility studies.
- Implement design and process improvements to meet standards and
resolve technical challenges.
- Deliver technical presentations and guidance to internal and
external stakeholders, offering recommendations to support various
projects.
- Mentor less experienced engineers, researching and recommending new
manufacturing practices to enhance business operations and goals.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
- 8 years applicable experience in factory/manufacturing setting.
- Ability to create and design automation control systems along with
associated project documentation and drawings.
- Experience implementing automation control systems (PLCs, HMIs,
Servos, Safety Controls, Vision Systems).
- Must have experience within the Allen Bradley control system
environment.
- Vision system experience with Cognex and Keyence products.
- Experience with the development and programming of robotic
assembly/material handling cells.
- Familiar with industrial control networks.
- Electrical and controls engineering expertise in support of new and
existing equipment.
