Job Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Grand Prairie, TX
Employment Type: Direct Hire/FTE
Compensation: Overtime eligible
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (6 days per week), Flex shifts needed (Second/Third Shift)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and installing equipment for our plants globally. Our portfolio includes ASRS systems, automated conveyors, pallet elevators, stackers/destackers, pallet turntables, automatic labelers, shipping trailers, and build line integration.
Responsibilities:
- Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations and safety protocols (e.g., safety harnesses, fork truck, scissor lift, boom lifts, LOTO)
- Build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among all team members
- Communicate effectively across cross-functional groups
- Manage projects from technical specification to startup support
- Design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and programming using our standards and innovative ideas
- Write, implement, and debug PLC software
- Provide support to existing automated equipment globally
- Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime (CBM, Industry 4.0)
- Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a controls engineering role at an automation/machine build shop
- Self-starter, team player, and positive attitude
- Creative thinker, results-oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
- Expertise in RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio
- Knowledge of I/O link, AB components, drive control, Keyence cameras
- Ability to read and create electrical drawings in AutoCAD
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Understanding and communication of applicable safety standards: general industry, machine guarding, robot safety, automated vehicles, conveyor safety
- Willingness to work long hours during installations, if required
