Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee our accounting operations and contribute to the growth of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the infrastructure, engineering, or construction sectors and will be adept at managing budgets, forecasts, project accounting and financial reports.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; manage the year-end close process and coordinate audits.
- Implement and manage financial controls and policies.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
- Prepare for and lead the financial audit process, liaising with external auditors.
- Assist with financial forecasting and oversee budgeting processes.
- Support project analysis, validation of plans, and ad-hoc requests.
- Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience and at least 4 years in management. Prefer at least 2 years in construction or engineering
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Proficiency in accounting software and excellent Excel skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information and reports clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
