Job Summary
The Controller is responsible for managing the general accounting function of the Finance Department, which includes, overseeing the completion of the general ledger, financial statements and control procedures. In addition, this position will analyze financial data and make recommendations in alignment with the overall company goals.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting functions for all entities including: month-end close and related reports, inventories, general ledger entries, accruals, accounts payable and bank reconciliations. This will include analyzing financial results and researching the causes of unplanned fluctuations.
- Establishes and maintains the accounting principles, practices and procedures in accordance with GAAP. Ensures proper controls are in place and segregation of duties is maintained.
- Prepares monthly combining financial statements including the statement of cash flows.
- Coordinates, facilitates and completes documentation required for annual financial audits and tax returns.
- Provides leadership and direct supervision to accountants including training, development and day-to-day work direction.
- Develops new processes and procedures to streamline current practices including focusing on system automation, process efficiencies/redundancies and controls.
- Oversees and monitors fixed asset records in coordination with the capital budgets.
- Administers accounting system including upgrades, enhancements and user interface.
- Responsible for accurate and timely filing of sales, use and expo tax filings. Oversees and ensures compliance with state requirements for these tax filings.
- Leads strategic initiatives as identified related to accounting function.
- Effectively work with store management, Home Office staff, and leadership in a matrix environment to better understand and improve operational performance.

Work Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Professional certification as a certified public accountant required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead a team through change.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with financial and non-financial teams
- Strong financial analysis skills required.
- Strong MS Excel spreadsheet knowledge required. Additional general ledger (Microsoft Dynamics) and other system knowledge (Google platform) desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong time management skills, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manipulate and interpret large amounts of data.
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standard, laws and regulations.
- Detail-minded with a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated team-building and development skills.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 30 lbs.
