As a Permanent Controller in the finance industry, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning and decision-making processes within the organization. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, general ledger, cash flow management, and financial statements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a financial leader in our organization, providing critical financial insight and strategic support to senior management.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage financial plans and budgets, ensuring they are consistent with the organization's short and long-term strategic objectives.
2. Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis to senior management, board members, and stakeholders.
3. Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, and tax compliance.
4. Implement and maintain systems for cash flow management to ensure the organization's financial stability.
5. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, etc.
6. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
7. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
8. Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take.
9. Oversee the production of monthly reports, financial statements and cash flow projections for use by executive management, as well as the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. A Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
3. Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, general ledger, cash flow management, and financial statements.
4. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
7. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software; proficiency in accounting software and experience with a software system implementation is a plus.
9. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
10. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of the organization.
