ROLE OVERVIEW
The Controller will be responsible for GL oversight, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. This is a key leadership role that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive financial performance and efficiency.
Principal Duties as Controller:
- Support the production of monthly reporting sourced from data warehouse to generate analytics related to statistical, financial, and accounting reporting.
- Analyze monthly results and provide feedback to business unit teams on key variances relating to sales volume, price, mix, purchases, discounts, and payroll.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly board of director meetings by analyzing variances within financial and operational metrics.
- Manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Coordinate and lead the monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in conjunction with external auditors.
- Coordinate audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Manage cash flow and working capital to optimize liquidity and support business operations.

- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in financial practices.
- Responsible for the annual budget, creating financial models, and updating rolling forecasts.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to guide business decisions and ensure financial stability and growth.
- Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Lead the annual budgeting and planning process, working closely with department heads and executive management.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and drive operational improvements.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and support to finance and operations projects as needed.
- Support the production of the monthly reporting source.
- Work with Leadership to refine metrics; collect, report, and analyze performance metrics and propose actions for business improvements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, including Senior Management, Operations, and Purchasing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance (CPA designation is highly desirable).
- 7-10 years of experience in a similar role
- Must possess exceptional Excel skills and ability to work with software databases.
- Experience with FP&A-related software platforms (e.g., Odoo, Planning and Budgeting, Essbase, Power BI, or other multi-dimensional database query tools)
- Financial modeling and forecasting experience
- High attention to detail, focused, thorough, and accurate.
- Works effectively and maintains good working relationships with all levels of management, customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Successfully manages and prioritizes large volumes of data and information.
- Skilled in the management of financial staff.
