Controller Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Controller to lead the day-to-day operations of their accounting department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing financial processes and overseeing the accuracy of the financial records. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys managing and mentoring a team while also rolling up their sleeves to dive into the details as needed.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Manage the treasury function and banking relationships
- Revenue recognition, calculate partner compensation
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial support and insights, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and assist in preparing financial reports for senior leadership.
- Coordinate and lead audits, as well as tax preparation and compliance efforts with external auditors and consultants.
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry standards, changes in accounting regulations, and best practices to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience in managing accounting operations within a professional services firm or similar environment.
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in detail-oriented tasks alongside the team.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
