Dallas/Houston, TX – hybrid schedule
One of Vaco’s private equity-backed clients is looking to onboard a Controller as they ramp up to tackle an aggressive growth strategy via acquisition. Previous M&A and private equity experience is required as well as demonstrated track record of driving process improvements and efficiencies. Controllers will be partnering with a CFO that we have worked extensively with – he gives his people a ton of autonomy to get things done and make decisions without micromanagement.
Although candidates will be sitting out of the Dallas office, monthly travel to Houston is required.
Day-to-day
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, as well as ongoing forecasts and variance analyses.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and facilitate annual audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
