Controller
Description
We’re looking for a Controller to join our finance team and run the accounting, tax, and FP&A functions for a fast-growing Conversations-as-a-Service software company. Reporting directly to the CFO, the ideal candidate will have worked both in public accounting and at software companies, with a mix of accounting, tax, and finance experience. They will be able to work independently and lead a small team to deliver GAAP-compliant financial statements, required tax filings, and financial forecasts and analyses.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly financial cycle, including invoicing, AR/AP, financial package preparation, and employee expense reports
- Run the financial forecasting and budgeting process, working with department leaders to understand monthly financial results and comparisons to budget/forecast as well as anticipated ROI from potential software and headcount investments
- Oversee payroll process, including semi-monthly payroll runs and state registrations and filings (utilizing Rippling HRIS system)
- Oversee tax reporting, working directly with external CPA firm to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting and registrations
- Run the annual financial audit process, working directly with external auditors to ensure timely and compliant issuance
- Run and improve upon existing financial analyses to help management team understand financial trends and anomalies
- Effectively manage Senior Accountant’s day to day activities
Skill Requirements
- 8-12 years of relevant accounting, tax and finance experience
- Experience in software industry, preferably within accounting/finance department of a software company
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, and ability to research relevant guidance as needed
- Strong financial modeling skills including multi-scenario forecasts and sensitivity analyses
- Experience with tax filings and registrations, specifically income tax and payroll taxes
- CPA license strongly preferred
- Experience with NetSuite financial ERP system
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience managing staff
- Ability to work well independently, take direction, and manage upwards as needed
