Our client a leading advertising and media agency known for its innovative campaigns and creative solutions is seeking a Controller to join their team.
Job Summary
The Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management within an advertising, marketing, or media company setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting principles.
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant financial regulations.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Provide financial analysis and decision support to management, including ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Supervise and manage accounting staff, including training and development.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations.
- Partner with the executive team to develop financial strategies and plans that support business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, preferably within an advertising or marketing agency.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 annually
