Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains adequate financial internal controls to ensure financial statements are appropriately stated.
- Ensures all accounting functions are conducted in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensures financial statements for all organizations are accurate with the goal of no audit adjustments from external auditors at year end.
- Works with external audit leadership to resolve any outstanding audit issues.
- Directs the development and maintenance of financial reports and systems to support Leaders with the organization.
- Analyzes and presents financial information to Senior Management, Board, Medical Staff, as required.
- Ensures all third party reporting (tax returns, surveys, etc) are completed accurately and on time.
- Leads organization in recognizing cost reduction and revenue enhancement initiatives.
- Ensures cash and investments are maintained with appropriate internal controls, policies, and records.
- Responsible for making certain cash and investment results are consistent with desired Corporate objectives.
- Coordinates all cash receipt disbursements and application polices to ensure adherence to established policies.
- Assists in developing and maintaining excellent relationships within the financial communities (Banks, Investment Brokers, Insurance Companies etc).
- Responsible for projecting cash flow projections on a weekly and monthly basis as needed.
- Serves as the point of contact with banks, investment managers, and other financial organizations.
- Works with VP and Treasurer on obtaining debt financing.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of systems and procedures to optimize reimbursement from third party payers including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross and Managed Care companies.
- Ensures third party reserves are appropriately recorded and monitored.
- Completes managed care contract review/negotiation as requested.
- Develops the annual budget in accordance with strategic initiatives for all entities
- Directs financial analysis and planning to support requests and needs of Leadership.
- Ensures accuracy and optimal use of Decision Support and Cost Accounting systems.
- Presents Budget and Financial Analysis to Senior Management and the Board as required.
- Negotiates and finalizes annual insurance renewals with brokers and insurance companies.
- Directs the completion of the 3-year and 10-year financial plans in conjunction with the firm.
- Works with third party tax preparers to review the annual 990 federal and state tax returns for all entities.
- Works with the Legal Department to review all new and proposed IRS ruling and regulations which could impact the 501(c)(3) status of any entities.
- Review all annual property tax assessments for reasonableness and file appeals with county assessors as needed.
- Develops the tangible/intangible asset breakdown for all physician and other healthcare acquisitions including working with third party tax preparers to complete IRS 8594 form.
- Other duties as necessary
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10 to 15 years of management experience.
- CPA required.
- Prefer previous experience in healthcare or healthcare consulting environment.
- Proficient knowledge of information technology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
