Job Summary
The Site Manager oversees and supports construction activities on assigned projects including supervision of field staff, quality control, monitoring of contractor progress, scheduling and attending city inspections, and performing regular site inspections to ensure the safety of Habitat staff and volunteers as well as a high standard of craftsmanship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Construction Management
- Responsible for managing job site safety and security issues
- Perform regular quality control and site maintenance inspections
- Schedule and attend city inspections
- Manage punch-list and inspection concerns, ensure repairs are addressed in a timely manner
- Assist other Construction Managers with monitoring subcontracted work to ensure it is completed on schedule and within agreed upon scope
- Assist as needed with performing onsite construction tasks including but not limited to rough and finish carpentry, hanging of drywall, painting, flooring, and final pre-closing punch-list items
Personnel Management:
- Manage and support the Construction Supervisors, Assistants, and Interns with on and off site needs
- Train new employees on how we build houses and how to perform the necessary job duties and onsite tasks
- Ensure safety and proper building techniques of field crews
Administrative
- Approve and process necessary invoices
- Work within the Construction Department’s system for scheduling of labor, tools, and materials
- Coordinate with the Volunteer Department to schedule volunteers and leaders for on site task completion
- Collaborate with other Construction Managers to plan pre-production warehouse work and order materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Post secondary degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years residential construction experience and minimum 3 years supervision experience with construction projects (preferably with volunteer involvement)
- Reading and interpreting house plans
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Site Manager will have strong personnel management skills, the ability to build relationships with a variety of people, knowledge of construction materials and building processes, and customer service skills. In addition, they will need to possess the following:
- Valid Wisconsin drivers license and good driving record
- Familiarity with single family home construction techniques
- Proven ability to manage a high-production construction schedule with multiple deadlines
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google products, e.g. Word, Excel, Gmail, Drive, Calendar
- Strong organizational skills to manage and meet deadlines
- Attention to details to ensure accuracy and completeness of assignments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with all staff and volunteers
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions
- Able to respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively

- Knowledge of Universal Dwelling Code
Compensation and Benefits:
- $60-65k based on experience
