About the Job
As the Site Safety Assistant, you will assist the Site Safety Manager in monitoring work conditions and action plans to comply with the safety standards of an industrial construction site as well as compiling project safety information.
This project is anticipated to last 12-14 months.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain site-specific safety plans including accident prevention and emergency response plans, updating as necessary throughout construction phases (evacuation plans will change, environment changes, etc.).
- Assist in the review of Contractor and Subcontractor site specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analysis, and Job Safety Analysis for content and quality, as well as OSHA mandated site evaluations.
- Coordinate and conduct training for general safety, participate in safety audits and walkthroughs to identify opportunities for improvement and ensuring they are implemented.
- Report statistics pertaining to the site’s workforce and safety, including assessments of tools and equipment, while continuously inspecting the project site and maintaining safety documents and reports.
- Assist in applying corrective and preventative action when discrepancies are detected, using emergency authority when needed to stop unsafe behavior.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in safety or industrial construction.
- Business literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Familiarity with hot work conditions and procedures.
Work Environment
While performing this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project site and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. The employee will also be required to work in an office environment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 7:30am - 4:00pm but are project specific and may require long hours or weekend work depending on project demands.
