Position Summary
As Construction Management Services Practice Lead, you will grow and strengthen our construction engineering and inspection business throughout the Mid-Atlantic. This position may include leading current and future CEI projects, but the primary role will be to manage and drive growth in Alpha’s Construction Management Practice, collaboratively with the regional Division Managers and company leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Proven ability to identify, position for and win and deliver new business with state, local and private clients.
- Ability to recruit, hire and develop talent at all levels.
- Ability to manage resources to deliver client work, provide mentoring and technical guidance, and provide intentional career development through training and work assignments.
- Ability to lead and mentor inspectors in all elements of managing a construction management and project management, ensuring consistently excellent quality of deliverables and compliance with the contract requirements for a variety of transportation and facility projects.
- Serve as a Project Manager or other senior project role to win and deliver large and complex projects. Manage or monitor all aspects of a CEI project including Preconstruction Services (scoping, utility conflicts, constructability & biddability) as well as close out activities, including as-builts, final quantities and project acceptance.
- Serve as the Client Manager and primary point of contact with clients and partners to ensure client satisfaction, strengthen relationships, and position for business development opportunities and partnerships with other firms for teaming. Also identify potential new clients and growth opportunities.
- Attend industry meetings and represent Alpha in leadership of industry trade organizations, such as ACEC, VTCA, SAME and other similar organizations.
- Participate in the management and strategic planning to grow the Company.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ability to update and track financial information including cost projections for projects.
- Knowledge of Construction Management/Inspection Services industry, challenges, competitors and business development strategies in VA, MD and DC.
- Strong writing skills and depth of experience in supporting the development of the writing for marketing materials, including developing technical proposals.
- Demonstrated knowledge managing multiple on-call construction management contracts.
- Knowledge and mastery of QA/QC development and execution process.
- Knowledge and experience interpreting contract specifications and standards.
- Must present high integrity and respect in all dealings with clients, subcontractors, colleagues, and staff.
- Ability to lead and manage teams of professionals.
- Ability to represent Alpha to clients, partners, and potential hires, and to conduct yourself in a professional manner in all business situations.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 15 years minimum of progressively responsible roles within the construction management industry.
- Must be a registered professional engineer in at least one of the following and able to obtain by reciprocity: Virginia, Maryland and / or District of Columbia.
Travel:
Travel between job sites and throughout the mid-Atlantic should be expected, in particular to Baltimore, Virginia Beach, Richmond and Charleston, SC. Additionally expect occasional travel to conferences, client meetings and project site visits.
