We are hiring Inspectors to support our growing team in Southern Pennsylvania.
Position Summary:
CES is seeking Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) professionals to join our team for the following areas of Southern Pennsylvania.
PADOT District 6-0 Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia Counties
PADOT District 8-0 Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, York, Lancaster Counties
NOTE: Interested applicants from Northern Maryland are encouraged to apply.
As a Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are compliant with contract requirements by reviewing and interpreting plans, contract documents and specifications. TCI’s will also perform testing on construction materials for quality assurance and inspect workmanship to be certain of quality and conformance. In addition, TCI’s will prepare daily reports and maintain progress schedules and keep records of quantities and materials used.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be able to work in a team environment to plan, coordinate, inspect, and oversee construction project activities for roadway, structure, and bridge, etc....
- Interpret project plans, standards and specifications.
- Document daily construction and project activities using appropriate electronic devices, software and specific Apps.
- Apply knowledge and experience toward the inspection and documentation of construction projects using project plans, standards, specifications.
- Apply engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction activities.
- Oversee and aid in the approval of Field Changes to meet field conditions.
- Oversee, direct, and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees if placed as a Senior Inspector.
- Maintain project documents and files.
- Communicate with various project representatives.
- Assist with the development of change orders.
- Ensure Compliance with all Safety Plans.
- Able to work both inside a construction office and outside at the construction project location.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
The Construction Inspector qualifications for this role include the following:
- Two years of transportation, highway, bridge, or related transportation construction experience is preferred, but recent engineer graduates interested in Construction Inspection are encouraged to apply.
- GED or high school diploma required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Experience operating laptop/tablet and software programs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Able to pass a criminal background check.
- Availability to work various shifts, extended hours and sometimes on weekends (depending on project assignment).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to physically perform essential duties such as Walking, Standing, Bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 50lbs.
- Travel across various types of terrain.
- Work safely around moving traffic and construction equipment reacting appropriately to hazard warning signs, sirens and alarms.
- Use required personal protective equipment, hardhats, safety vests, etc…
- Travel to construction project inspection locations.
- Tolerate working outdoors, adverse weather, noise, various plants and insects.
- Limited exposure to chemicals.
Preferred Certifications for candidates.
- NECEPT bituminous and concrete
- ACI
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Highway Construction
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety
- ECMS experience
- PPCC experience
