General Manager - Underground Utilities
Our Client is a well-established and respected construction company, is currently seeking a highly qualified General Manager to join their team and take on a significant leadership role in overseeing their construction operations.
As the General Manager at this company, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing a variety of construction projects throughout the area. You will report directly to the company owners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management or civil engineering, coupled with experience in estimating and project management for civil contractor projects.
Key Responsibilities of the General Manager:
- Review and evaluate bids and change orders for construction projects, ensuring they meet the company's standards and objectives.
- Examine and approve contracts and subcontracts, verifying their terms and conditions align with company policies and legal requirements.
- Review and authorize invoices and pay applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
- Monitor receivables to ensure timely payment from clients and address any outstanding issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with estimating and project management teams, as well as field supervision staff, to ensure efficient and effective coordination of Michigan construction projects.
- Work closely with internal teams to streamline operations, resolve issues, and maintain consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Any other duties that may be asked of you.
Qualifications for the General Manager Role:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering (preferred)
- A minimum of 10 years of direct experience working for a civil contractor, including hands-on experience in estimating and project management.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
