Construction Field Superintendent
JOB SUMMARY
The Construction Field Superintendent oversees and manages all on-site construction operations to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of contractors and subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with contract documents and specifications. The Construction Field Superintendent also addresses site maintenance issues, develops and resolves punch lists, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact to facilitate seamless project execution while providing exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are executed efficiently and according to plan.
- Manages the project schedule in the field by coordinating with the Construction Manager and all subcontractors and suppliers involved in the project.
- Coordinates the daily activities of contractors and subcontractors to maintain workflow and alignment with project goals.
- Maintains and reviews daily field reports to track progress and ensure timely project completion.
- Monitors construction sites to ensure safety and cleanliness, issuing written notices to address any violations promptly.
- Ensures adherence to contractual requirements and specifications by conducting regular inspections, including measuring visual inspections, or requesting inspections to verify accuracy of ongoing work.
- Maintains photographic records to document work progress, including non-conforming workmanship and general activity at the project site on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Identifies and resolves discrepancies between contract documents and on-site work execution.
- Coordinates construction drawings and documents to facilitate seamless collaboration between subcontractors, ensuring that all parties are aligned on project specifications.
- Inspects site materials upon delivery to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborates with the customer and internal departments to establish punch list items and distributes to relevant vendors and subcontractors.
- Monitors the progress of punch list items, providing regular status updates to the department director, including details on location and anticipated completion timelines.
OTHER DUTIES
- Actively participates and contributes in any/all initiatives when requested and/or required.
- Cultivates a collaborative environment to encourage continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Stays in touch with vendors and subcontractors for future projects or networking purposes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- .
- At a minimum, OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification is required or must be obtained. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification is preferred.
- Advanced certifications such as Construction Quality Management (CQM) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and safety standards, including OSHA requirements.
- Strong understanding of value engineering techniques and their application in construction projects.
- Knowledge of industry specific compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools including Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with clients, vendors and stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Skilled in contract negotiation, vendor management, and dispute resolution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within established deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, timelines, and quality control measures effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed primarily at various job sites and occasionally an in-office environment.
Jobsite environment:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, reaching, bending, crawling through confined spaces, or stretching to reach elevated spaces.
- Must adhere to company safety policies and industry standards for personal protective equipment (PPE) when on site.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Local and national travel will be required between project locations to ensure effective coordination and management of construction activities.
- Domestic overnight travel to various job sites, client meetings, industry conferences, and other business-related events will be required. Travel frequency will vary based on project demands and business needs.
In-office environment:
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk or workstation while performing job-related tasks.
- Regular use of computers and other office equipment, requiring manual dexterity and visual concentration.
- Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings, training sessions, or other events.
