We are on the hunt for a driven and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in our preconstruction process, utilizing their expertise to provide accurate cost estimates that will drive the success of our projects. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of construction projects, from residential builds to large-scale commercial developments.
Responsibilities:
As a Construction Estimator, your chief responsibility will be to oversee and coordinate the preconstruction phase of our projects. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
2. Conducting detailed risk assessments to ensure that potential project problems are foreseen and the risk is minimized.
3. Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
4. Presenting prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
5. Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
6. Setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
7. Establishing and maintaining tendering processes, and conducting negotiations.
8. Providing consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.).
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Construction Estimator position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry, specifically in a role related to preconstruction and cost estimation.
2. A strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
3. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
4. Proficiency in relevant software, such as estimating, project management, or spreadsheet software.
5. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
7. A degree in a related field, such as construction science, construction management, or engineering, is preferred.
8. Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar will be a plus.
