We are seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager to play a vital role in our accounting operations. This position collaborates closely with our Controller, accounting team, and field professionals, ensuring accurate financial data and smooth project execution.
This role offers hybrid working arrangements after an initial training period, combining in-office and remote work opportunities. The Construction Accounting Manager must have a strong understanding of accounting systems and processes, combined with attention to detail, a disciplined work ethic, and excellent communication skills.

- General Accounting Management
- Oversee general ledger functions, including balance sheet reconciliation, fixed asset accounting, sales tax management, and payroll liabilities.
- Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items, aged transactions, and discrepancies through collaboration and problem-solving.
- Work with the Controller to establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Cross-train with Accounts Payable and Payroll functions for backup support when needed.
- Project Invoicing & Accounts Receivable
- Manage project setup in the accounting system, ensuring accurate entry of contract details, schedules, and change orders.
- Prepare and submit project invoices, including AIA billings, in alignment with client requirements and contract terms.
- Handle lien waiver requests and processing, both conditional and unconditional.
- Calculate sales taxes accurately, understanding jurisdictional regulations and exemptions applicable to construction services.
- Lead proactive accounts receivable collection efforts, ensuring timely follow-ups and resolution of client issues.
- Process Improvements
- Review, enhance, and document accounting processes to incorporate control improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align and optimize workflows.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Foundation Software (required).
- Strong Microsoft Excel expertise (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise is a plus.
- Specialized Knowledge:
- Construction invoicing, progress and AIA billing.
- Payroll and accounts receivable management.
- Sales tax regulations relevant to construction.
