CONFIGURATION MANAGER - must create and maintain processes for controlling and tracking product variations throughout the product lifecycle and is responsible for configuration identification, status accounting and verification/audit.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary
- Establish and maintain the record of the product's functional and physical attributes throughout its life cycle.
- Identify existing product configurations that meet the requirements of new orders and opportunities
- Manage dissemination of documentation of part/assembly variations and updates
- Manage multiple configuration bills of material (BOMs).
- Product configuration management from manufacturing to deployment or decommissioning as required.
- Develop and maintain build records and deviations/waivers
- Implement component lot tracking for mechanical parts and printed circuit board assemblies
- Capture as-built/as installed data
- Maintain service record history, details of field changes, warranty replacements; proactively identify fielded product needing service/upgrade
- Maintain software/firmware configuration management
- Interface with MRP and engineering product data management functions to ensure correct data handoff between departments (engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, field service) and tracking of revision history of BOMs changes to address design improvement, cost reduction and parts obsolescence
- Assist in optimizing BOM structure for cost and efficiency for both internal manufacturing and external contract manufacturing.
Secondary
- Manage rules governing relationship between parts/configuration items and drawing/document numbers; prevent duplication, facilitate future configurations of existing products, preserve but improve legacy numbering.
- Run and report on the change management process with respect to Engineering documentation
- Track customer and regulatory product requirements
REQUIRED
- Experience with development and maintenance of a Configuration Management System (CM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in a manufacturing context
DESIRED
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline and five years' experience CM
- Experience with development and maintenance of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Familiarity with ANSI/EIA-649, ISO 10007, ISO 9001 and ASME Y14.100
