Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and collaborative law firm with a national presence, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Compliance Quality Assurance Specialist in its Buffalo, New York office. The Compliance Quality Assurance Specialist position is responsible for internal quality assurance audits of legal files to ensure compliance with client guidelines, best practice standards, and firm best practices.
The position requires a strong understanding of information collected in a number of the firm’s departments, the ability to analyze the accuracy and adequacy of information supplied, and the use of discretion to secure additional and/or missing information. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will consistently interact with the Director of Risk and Compliance, Legal File Audit Manager, Practice Group Leaders, attorneys, support staff, and audit team members throughout the firm and with clients.

The hourly salary range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will consistently interact with the Director of Risk and Compliance, Legal File Audit Manager, Practice Group Leaders, attorneys, support staff, and audit team members throughout the firm and with clients.
Responsibilities:
- Accurate, consistent, and timely communication with attorneys and other firm personnel to provide details on client requirements including what, how, and when requirements must be met.
- Perform full legal file audits, including gathering of relevant documents and information cross-departmentally and recordkeeping of final results.
- Use professional judgement to review billing, best practices, communication, and legal process for each file in accordance with relevant client and firm guidelines.
- Analyze data gathered from the firm compliance process to prepare reports on findings
- Appreciate and understand the significance of accurately tracking matters, recording information and the usage of that information in reports and its impact on the firm.
- Evaluate, interpret and understand client guideline requirements.
- Assist in the maintenance of the firm’s best practices and compliance tools.
- Understand and appropriately utilize firm systems.
- Compile and convey written data into quarterly reports in an intelligible, succinct, and clear manner.
- Completion of reports on a daily, weekly, monthly or as needed basis
- Assist in the performance of quarterly file pulls (both random and targeted) based on specific criteria utilizing firm systems.
- Appreciate and understand the impact of quality assurance activities on the firm’s ability to successfully submit invoices and receive payment.
- Assist with special projects and assignments as needed.
Experience/Requirements:
- Associate’s degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience in an office environment, or 5+ years of relevant legal field support in lieu of a degree.
- Regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in English.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Regularly required to observe and assess data and documents, in printed form and on computer screens.
- May be requested to work beyond normal work hours and weekends for special projects.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently within general guidelines and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences.
- Ability to respond to internal or external inquiries, including those of a sensitive, confidential, or adversarial nature.
