The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in commercial and industrial settings. Solar States is seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Solar Electrician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in commercial and industrial settings. Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Commissioning: Install, wire, and connect solar PV systems for commercial properties, ensuring that electrical components such as inverters, disconnects, and panels are correctly installed and operational.
- System Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose electrical faults, and troubleshoot issues in both residential and commercial solar PV systems.
- Electrical Work: Ensure all electrical installations comply with National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and other safety regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other electricians, project managers, and contractors to complete installations and maintenance tasks efficiently and safely.
- System Testing: Conduct electrical tests to ensure system integrity and proper functioning, documenting results and providing recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
- Customer Support: Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on project progress and ensuring customer satisfaction with electrical services.
- Safety: Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures while working on commercial job sites.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Identify and resolve electrical issues that arise with solar systems, including wiring faults, inverter malfunctions, and other electrical issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, inspections, and testing performed on solar systems.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with advancements in solar technology and industry best practices.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician, with at least 1 year of experience working specifically with solar PV systems (commercial experience preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient with electrical systems, solar PV systems, and associated wiring and components.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code) and local electrical codes. Knowledge of solar energy systems, inverters, battery storage systems, and related technologies is highly desired.
- Physical Ability: Ability to work in various environments, including on rooftops, in confined spaces, and at heights, as well as the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to clients and team members.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing issues.
- Driver's License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, as travel to job sites is required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with residential and commercial solar PV design and installations.
- Ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment used in solar system installations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with solar monitoring systems and software.
- Experience working in a team-based environment and managing subcontractors.
Job type: Full Time
Compensation and Benefits:
- 15 days of paid vacation per year (prorated).
- 5 paid sick days per year (prorated).
- Paid holidays.
- $150/month contribution toward Solar States Health Insurance Program.

- 75% coverage of dental insurance (50% for dependents).
- 3% contribution to the 401k program after 90 days.
