Job Description:
Provide support for attorneys in the Real Estate Practice Group in the Commercial Department. Assists with all stages of various real estate transactions including lender, developer and buyer/seller matters. Manages processes to fulfill client requirements with appropriate agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordination and assistance with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
- Review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues.
- Preparation and administration of contract critical dates and closing checklists.
- Preparation of clear and concise correspondence and memoranda.
- Organization of client files and maintaining client documents and emails in client workspaces.
- Preparation of initial draft documents, amendments to agreements and miscellaneous documents for attorney review.
- Preparation of lease and loan abstracts.
- Review various due diligence including zoning reports, covenants, management agreements and other agreements and reports.
- Knowledge of formation of entities and review and preparation of organizational and authority documents.
- Preparation and filing of UCC financing statements, order UCC lien and other searches and prepare summaries of lien search results, and record documents in various counties and states.
- Filing and recording documents with the appropriate offices/courts.
- Attending to all post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing indices, the preparation and organization of closing binders, and monitoring post-closing deliveries or requirements.
- Perform other duties and complete projects as assigned and otherwise function as a critical member of a deal team.
Position Requirements:
- Must have excellent writing and communication skills and have the ability to interact with clients, court officials, and vendors in a professional manner.
- Must be able to perform at a high level and efficiently in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work a schedule that accommodates deadlines.
- Three to five years’ paralegal experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred, and paralegal certification from an accredited source required
