NorthPointe Christian Schools is an independent Christian school formed in 1972 serving over 1,200 preschool through high school students from over 120 churches. POSITION SUMMARY
Provide support to the Colt Care Director and staff by assisting in activities and ensuring a safe and positive environment for students.
This is a 20-hour per week position beginning in Feb/March with up to 32 hours per week in the summer. Hours are 2:15pm-6:15pm, Monday-Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Teach and support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
- Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel. Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
- Answer the doorbell and phone.
- Make sure all classroom ratios are maintained.
- Work through discipline issues with students.
- Collect waivers for special events.
- Assist and support Colt Care teachers and staff.
- Call parents if a student is sick or hurt.
- Call parents if a student has a behavior issue if the Director is unavailable.
- Maintain and enforce licensing rules.
- Help distribute snacks, crafts, and activities for the day.
- Provide supervision to students in the classroom, hallway, and on outings.
- Follow safety protocols for where students can be and how to secure the building.
- Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, staff, and students.
- Comply with all school and State regulations and policies.
- Support the Colt Care Director in other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Able to pass required background checks, fingerprint screening, TB Test, and MiRegistry hours.
- A CDA or associate's degree in early childhood is preferred but not required.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.

Physically able to:
- Sufficiently hear conversations in person and distinguish sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
- Read printed and electronic material daily. See with clarity objects using close, distant, and peripheral vision.
- Perform daily repetitive movement of fingers and hands when writing and typing.
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- On occasion, engage with students while kneeling, squatting, stooping, or bending 50-70 degrees at the waist.
- Frequently use manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate equipment, and move around the classroom.
- Frequently stand and sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to maintain continuous safety of the students and respond quickly and appropriately to any threat toward their well-being.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a standard classroom, gymnasium, and/or outdoor setting. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
