What you will be working on (Job Description):
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be supporting the Cloud Ops & Patching Team as an experience technical resource that can adapt quickly to service demands and provide immediate value to the mission. You will be joining our team to support our intelligence customer in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect, build, and maintain Hadoop and other cloud infrastructure.
- Apply Configuration Management disciplines to maintain hardware/software revisions, security patches, hardening, and documentation.
- Develop and direct the creation of content for a complex and growing infrastructure, including Dashboards, Active Channels, Reports, Rules, Filters, Trends, and Active Lists.
- Provide guidance to security analysts and network engineering staff.
- Work closely with C&A Teams to maintain security requirements for system operations.
- Support all aspects of NCE's Security Information and Event Management initiative.
- Enhance and improve an integrated set of correlation rules, alerts, searches, reports, and responses.
- Coordinate and conduct event collection, log management, event management, compliance automation, and identity monitoring activities for the system.
- Perform routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance.
- Perform systems hardening to DoD standards.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of designs/configurations.
- Create shell and Perl scripts to facilitate automated tasks.
- Work with other Service Providers to support areas of common interest.
- Collaborate with software and hardware vendors.
Experience with the following:
- Public clouds such as AWS, Google, Rackspace.
- Private clouds such as VMware, OpenStack.
- Experience working with Hadoop in a Cloud Environment
- Working as a system architect, administrator, or operator in a production environment.
- Knowledge of IAAS, PAAS, and/or SAAS cloud technologies.
- Network technologies (e.g., MPLS, routing protocols, forwarding).
- Common infrastructure components (IPAM, DNS, DHCP), load balancers, firewalls, virtual and physical infrastructure design.
- Hypervisors such as VMware ESXi, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V.
What you will bring to us (Required Skills):
- 5+ years of related systems engineering experience.
- Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to use problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis to resolve issues.
Would be nice if you bring the following (Highly Desired):
- Strong background in Unix, Solaris, or Windows servers.
- Scripting skills (e.g., shell scripting, Perl).

- Professional certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
