Responsibilities:The Group Manager of Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for the management of clinical pharmacy services for a designated group of hospitals within a region, including coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services and initiatives. Provides leadership and coordination for the local Clinical Coordinators to support the initiatives, objectives, and administrative policies as determined by the Regional Director of Clinical Pharmacy and the Prime Healthcare Regional Pharmacy Leadership Team. Assists with the development and execution of region-wide clinical pharmacy initiatives to promote medication safety, appropriate use of medications, formulary compliance, cost-effective practice, and improve patient outcomes. Understands the acute and ambulatory services within the designated region and works with both the local and system pharmacy team to share resources, to utilize clinical expertise from the local ministries in the various standardized and centralized processes, and to support the development of clinical pharmacy programs and of clinical pharmacists and staff pharmacists. Provides mentorship and support to the Clinical Coordinators on implementation of system and local initiatives including, but not limited to, formulary management, medication use evaluation, policy/procedure management, pharmacy-driven protocols, medication safety/quality programs, antimicrobial stewardship, and pharmacy education programs (initiation/maintenance of pharmacy residency and student programs).
Qualifications:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Required qualifications:
1. Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
2. B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD degree required.
3. PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency required (significant experience may be considered in lieu of residency)
4. Minimum of:
a. 3 years of previous progressive Pharmacy leadership roles (i.e., Clinical Coordinator, Manager, Director) or equivalent experience in developing formularies, drug utilization analyses, medication safety program management, policy/protocol development and oversight of clinical pharmacists; OR
b. PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency in Pharmacy Administration/Management with one year experience in a clinical pharmacy leadership role (as described above)
5. Minimum of 5 years previous work experience in a hospital or health system required.
6. Board Certification in a specialty area governed by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties required.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Preferred qualification:
1. Pharmacy management experience at multi-hospital level preferred.
2. MBA or MHA preferred.
3. Experience as a pharmacy residency preceptor preferred; oversight and/or establishment of pharmacy residency programs (PGY1 and/or PGY2) preferred.
