Job Description Summary
The Clinical/Medical Laboratory Assistant reports to a designated manager. Under general supervision, the Clinical/Medical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to the pre analytical processing of biological specimens for testing performed in the clinical laboratory. This role is responsible for data entry of client demographic information, processing test orders and order review, and reconciling specimen/order problems. This position assists with facilitating send out testing, ensure proper patient registration, paper requisition filing, supply management support, answers phones, ensuring proper labeling of samples and sample distribution.Entity

Job Description
Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.Additional Job Description
Education: High School Diploma or GED and certification as a Clinical Lab Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent registry; or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or certified as a phlebotomist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent registry; or one year work experience in a health care setting. Typing Speed: 25 corrected wpm required. Demonstrated customer service work experience required.
