A Client Accounting Manager possesses the ability to assume responsibility for managing engagements and special assignments and has the capability of supervising a number of engagements simultaneously. The Manager oversees the performance of client service team and all related activity. The Manager can perform all tasks related to client service and sees that assignments are accomplished by the engagement team within the budgeted time. This role takes on responsibility for the professional and technical development of the staff through on-the-job-interaction and leading in-house training.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Regular duties include (but are not limited to):
- Demonstrates ability to work independently on engagements and supervise professional staff in:
- Performing accounting services for client
- Completing and reviewing of month-end work (reconciliation of bank accounts, post cash receipts and cash disbursements, calculate and record monthly accruals, record standard monthly entries, track payment of federal, state and local tax estimates, prepare monthly financial statements, review G/L detail to be sure sufficient information is provided for preparation of year-end returns)
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, W-2’s, 1099’s
- Calculating and reviewing monthly sales tax liability
- Reviews or prepares management reporting packages, budgets, forecasts/models.
- Develops proficiency in use of all technology necessary for performance execution
- Maintains designated chargeable hours for the year (determined by Geography & Discipline leaders)
- Ensures quality control procedures are being executed under direction of engagement supervisor
- Deliver excellent customer service and develop long-term relationships
- Responds timely and accurately to client requests
- Demonstrates willingness to understand how to work within budgetary parameters
- Proactively demonstrates a willingness to learn and attain greater knowledge on a continual basis; looks to build technical skill base
- Be a problem solver. Use technology to find better ways to support clients.
- Be a listener and trusted advisor. Listen to clients for new opportunities and to better understand business challenges and pain points
- Follows regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the state society
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3 – 5 years of Accounting/Finance and management/supervisory experience in public accounting, professional services, corporate or private industry
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles and U.S. GAAP
- Proficient knowledge of accounting software (Bill.com, QuickBooks (Desktop or Online), and/or SAGE are preferred but not required), Excel, and Word
- Experience in accounting and financial management in a corporate accounting environment in roles such as accounting supervisor, assistant controller or controller;
- Strong finance and management accounting knowledge;
- Extensive experience in budgeting and forecasting;
- Experience transitioning clients between platforms and understanding best practices with various accounting programs (Quickbooks; Bill.com, others)
- Proven leadership, communication, management, and coaching skills;
- Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to timing, budgets, and outcomes across multiple clients and projects;
- Strong work ethic and respect for diversity, as well as a commitment to continuously acquire new personal and professional skills and knowledge;
- Ability to understand and apply new tools and a desire to identify innovative solutions to use technology to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Advanced degree or certifications a plus
- License / Certification
- MBA and/or CPA license a plus
