PHFE WIC, a program of Heluna Health, employs staff who assist with providing healthy food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and family resources to women, infants and children in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.
Under the guidance of Federal, State, Heluna Health and Public Health Foundation Enterprises WIC (PHFE WIC) policies, this role supports WIC Center operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Ensure efficient WIC Center operations by completing all assigned tasks efficiently, including guest greetings, WIC screening, enrollment and document collection.
- Provides excellent customer service to all clients, staff, and visitors, addressing their needs promptly and professionally.
- Conducts effective breastfeeding and nutrition education sessions for individuals and groups, ensuring they understand and utilize the information provided.
- Issues WIC cards
- Provides WIC Program Information
- Schedules appointments
- Performs office duties and conducts outreach
- Serve applicants and participants using current computer applications.
- Complete tasks directed by the Supervisor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Keep the WIC Center clean, safe and clutter free, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants.
- Actively participates in community outreach projects and represents PHFE WIC at various events to increase program awareness.
- Maintains a daily productivity log.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Practice good listening and comprehension skills.
- Maintains confidentiality of WIC operations and sensitive information.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Proficiency in PHFE WIC internal computer applications and relevant software.
- Must possess a reliable cell phone, home phone, or message phone. All phone numbers must be current and operational.
- Must be able to secure timely transportation to fulfill the requirements of the essential job duties for this position (e.g. floating to other WIC Centers, trainings, meetings, outreach, main office, and transporting supplies).
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or (GED) required
- Minimum of one-year of continuous experience in a customer service role
