Job DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITION:
NYC Health + Hospitals / Gotham Health strives to serve patients through a two-pronged approach: providing treatment to those who need it, while at the same time emphasizing prevention. The Clerical Associate IV - Financial Counselor performs (routine to moderate difficult) registration and financial counseling for all patients in need across the Gotham sites as needed. This position performs registration of patients and discusses the patient's financial status to determine if assistance is needed to help pay for the care they receive during their visits to the clinic.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Performs all clerical work including, greeting patients and visitors, scheduling patient appointments and responsible for keeping patients' demographics accurately updated
- Complete and submit all forms given to the patient upon their first visit, such as HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights and demographics
- Assist patients with determining needed financial assistance where applicable, including completing all financial information and/or applications required to make decisions
- Collect data and perform routine data processing functions, such as status and DNKA's.
- Performs moderate data entry and data retrieval using electronic systems
- Answers phone and takes messages for providers and nursing team when necessary. Schedules patients accordingly if necessary
- Performs clerical work in relation to records, file, and reports using standard work
- May supervise and instruct a small group engaged in the performance of data entry and retrieval operations
- Conducts New Patient registrations via the EPIC software application
- Under the direction of the Coordinating Manager, write off accounts when directed.
- Opens and closes clinics via the EPIC software application within a set time frame.
- Reviews and updates all pertinent patient information when opening patient visits via EPIC
- Schedules patient follow up and sub-specialty appointments as directed by providers, prior to patients exit
- Reviews and revises templates for scheduling patient appointments
- Performs all related Receptionist duties, including answering phone, greeting patients and handling patient inquiries
- A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
- Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:
CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
- Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute
- Ability to analyze and to prioritize tasks.
- Good oral and written communication skills along with ability to work in a team are
required.
