Civil/Roadway Design Lead - Transportation
Cordoba Corporation seeks a Civil/Roadway Design Lead to support its Transportation sector. The Civil/Roadway Design Lead is responsible for managing the planning and design stages of civil engineering projects. Work includes all technical aspects of projects under project managers’ direction, including preparation of project estimates, budgets, schedules, and allocation of resources. Apply advanced or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions. Perform independent evaluations by selecting and applying standard engineering techniques, provide procedures and criteria for jobs assigned, and use judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Also, perform responsible and varied engineering assignments requiring a general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines. Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works. Solve problems by combining standard procedures and modifying standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments. Perform work that may include various complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage and work with other engineers, drafters, and designers to prepare the required design, specifications, and details for assigned projects, considering efficient and economical production and installation of engineered work and budget limitation of each design element.
- Verify employees' work for accuracy, proper work methods and techniques, compliance with applicable standards and specifications, and completeness of design.
- Perform advanced professional engineering in connection with public works projects.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work on major or complex engineering projects.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and costs for the construction of streets, storm drains, parks, signals, buildings, and other capital improvement projects.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of engineering reports.
- Review a variety of construction plans, maps, reports, applications, and various agreements.
- Determine design procedures and interpret the application of design criteria.
- Check plans and specifications for accuracy.
- Prepare preliminary and final project cost estimates.
- Review and approve payments for subconsultants, vendors, and contractors.
- Review plans and make recommendations regarding design, constructability, maintenance, and traffic-related issues.
- May assist in field engineering and inspection.
- Independently perform assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
- Maintain documentation records of generated design deliverables.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- CA Licensed P.E.
- 10+ years’ experience performing professional engineering work.
- Experience interfacing with clients as a technical lead.
- Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge:
- Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Autodesk software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, and InfraWorks.
- Bentley software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and ProjectWise.
- Bluebeam Revu and Studio Sessions.
- Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
- Principles and practices of civil engineering and its application to public works and construction.
- Planning and analysis of engineering systems needed for the use of land, including streets, highways, sewage, water facilities, storm drains, grading, land use, and utilities.
- Civil engineering applied to estimates, studies, technical reports, designs, plans, specifications, and professional recommendations for a variety of engineering activities.
- Construction includes survey, inspection, public works contract administration procedures, and engineering materials and methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Involvement in industry associations.
Salary Range: $185,000 to $225,000 per year.
Location: Remote, CA preferred
