About the Job
Otak is hiring a Transportation, Active Transportation, and Civil
Designer! Come join our diverse, thriving civil engineering practice and
use your expertise in successfully undertaking land development and/or
public transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Metro area.
This position will work on multi-disciplinary projects where you will
use your engineering judgment to transform design concepts into
construction drawings and technical specifications. The ideal candidate
will be self-motivated with an enthusiastic, team-oriented attitude!
This position can be based in our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office.
Occasional travel between offices may be necessary for design team
collaboration and/or client meetings. Otak is an integrated
multi-disciplinary design firm, you will have the opportunity to partner
with our architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners,
surveyors and support staff, who all share a desire to blend an
innovative approach to creating mindful designs. What you'll do:
Collaborate with Engineering colleagues in the transportation, active
transportation, and infrastructure design team on project and task
related work. Assist Project Engineers in preparing construction plans
and specifications related to roadway design, water and sanitary sewer
design, active transportation, pedestrian and bike access, and Safe
Routes to Schools using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation
software. Perform civil design calculations, sketches, and technical
evaluations for projects. Assist in preparing cost estimates and
technical specifications. Assist with construction support services
responding to contractor RFIs, submittal reviews, as-built drawings, and
field observations. Work with the team on all aspects of projects
including developing proposals, project set-up, drafting, design,
quality control, coordination, and collaboration. What you bring:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from an accredited
college or university or equivalent education is required. Minimum of
one (1) to three (3) years of professional work experience with an
emphasis on civil design for transportation infrastructure, active
transportation, or land development. Possession of Fundamentals of
Engineering (FE)/Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or proof of
exam scheduled. Demonstrated experience with latest Autodesk Civil 3D or
Bentley MicroStation software. Strong verbal and written communication
skills. Passion for transportation, active transportation, and
infrastructure projects and service to public agencies and communities.
