Your day to day as a Childcare Director
As the Center Director for the YMCA of Reading & Berks County, you'll manage the development and implementation of a top-notch childcare program that puts families first! With a focus on operational success, you'll oversee everything from enrollment and staffing to financial stability and growth. Your leadership will set a positive culture, coaching staff while nurturing relationships with children and families alike. You'll be at the heart of the community, expanding programs, conducting family tours, and ensuring high-quality experiences.
With a keen eye on compliance and safety, you'll manage budgets, evaluate staff performance, and maintain facilities that promote healthy living. What we're looking for in a Childcare Director
To thrive as the Center Director at the YMCA of Reading & Berks County, you'll need a blend of education and experience, along with some serious superhero skills! A bachelor's or associate degree with relevant coursework in early childhood education or human services is essential, paired with at least one to four years of experience working with children. You must shine in communication, both spoken and written, radiating positivity and professionalism.
Your decision-making skills, emotional maturity, and enthusiasm must be off the charts as you navigate the vibrant world of childcare! Additionally, physical agility is a must, as you may be lifting items up to 60 lbs and swiftly reaching out to children in need. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Must meet one of the following education requirements:
- · A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children
- · A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
- · An associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children
- · An associate degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
- · The ability to meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Code Title 55 Chapter 3270 Public Welfare Director qualifications and responsibilities
- · Must be at least 18 years old
- · Ability to communicate positively and professionally using the English Language; both spoken and written
- · Lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs
- · The ability to reach a child from 20-30 feet in 10 seconds without danger to your health
- · Ability to demonstrate good decision-making skills, intelligence, flexibility, emotional maturity, a positive outlook, enthusiasm, and a professional attitude towards all clients and staff
