Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with its long-term goals.
Collaborate with the executive team to drive strategic growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
Financial Management
Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Manage cash flow to ensure operational efficiency and liquidity.
Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
Lead risk management strategies, including insurance coverage, contract review, and compliance with financial regulations.
Project-Based Financial Oversight
Establish and monitor project budgets, job costing, and profitability analysis.
Collaborate with project managers to optimize financial performance on projects.
Oversee the preparation of Work in Progress (WIP) reports and analyze project margins.
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with operations, estimating, and procurement teams to align financial and operational goals.
Serve as a mentor and advisor to emerging leaders within the company.
Technology and Systems
Implement and optimize financial systems, ensuring accurate and efficient processes.
Leverage technology to enhance financial reporting and data analytics.
Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure compliance with all tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Act as a liaison with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
Represent the company in financial matters with clients, joint venture partners, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
Experience
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of heavy civil construction, including contract structures, WIP, and job costing.
Skills and Competencies
Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of financial systems and software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, Procore, or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proven track record of driving financial performance and operational efficiency
