We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our company's financial operations and to drive our financial strategy. The CFO will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our company's financial operations and to drive our financial strategy. The CFO will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis, and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance, and private and institutional financing.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
- Manage and oversee the financial activities of the organization including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement the financial plans and policies of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advise management of actions and potential risks.
- Manage and control Treasury functions.
- Arrange for audits as required and appropriate.
- Manage and oversee the administration and financial reporting of the company's Retirement Plan.
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all A-133 audit issues are resolved, and all 403(b) compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with U.S. GAAP and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
- Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings; including being the lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committee.
- Monitor banking activities of the organization.
- Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business with strong accounting experience.
- Five to seven years of managerial finance, accounting, and operations management experience.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is required.
- Proven experience in financial planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
- Experience in cash flow and treasury functions.
- Experience with revenue recognition and monthly reporting.
- Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rules and standards.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
- Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
- Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
