The Hotel Zamora, a beautiful boutique hotel located in St. Pete Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer. The Hotel Zamora is under new ownership and management with Sherman Associates, an accomplished and proven real estate development and management company. The Chief Engineer is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the assigned hotel portfolio. Special attention to safety, predictive and preventative maintenance and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives is critical to overall success. This role will be providing leadership, by maintaining a high level of expectations of maintenance and timely performance and completion of all assigned property maintenance duties and other projects or tasks.
Pay range: $50,000 - $70,000 depending on experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- General maintenance and upkeep responsibilities including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light carpentry and painting
- Responds to open work orders and resolves management requests within 24 hours
- Direct the maintenance staff on small repairs, such as patching drywall, fixing faulty wiring, or unclogging drains
- Assists in scheduling and completing preventive maintenance for building and building equipment
- Hands-on work of all building repairs, preventative maintenance and general upkeep of the facility with special attention to more involved operations or projects
- Walks property at regular intervals (daily) to ensure guest property rules are being followed and that the property is clean and orderly and in good maintenance condition
- Assists in maintaining sufficient maintenance supply stock
- Assists in contracting outside vendors and taking bids for special projects or extensive maintenance
- Obtains approvals for expenditures and maintains budgets
- Assists in maintaining exterior grounds and interior common areas in quality, presentable condition. This will include but is not limited to the following:
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Other tasks as assigned including: plumbing, blueprint, electrical, city codes, environmental initiative and tracking
- Picks up trash and keep common areas neat
- Sweeps walks and curbs
- Waters lawn, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds
- Performs year-round grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal
- Completes additional duties as assigned

Required Experience:
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
- 5-7 years of experience in maintenance or related carpentry/construction, ideally in hotel environment
- Special boilers license or willingness to obtain one, if applicable
- Current and valid driver’s license required. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR) and have a safe driving record, if applicable
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO), if applicable
- Willingness and ability to run errands to hardware store for maintenance supplies, cleaning supplies, or other items
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; Ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors / external parties, and across corporate divisions
