About the Job
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled, strategic, change-oriented finance leader to join Xerox as the VP, Chief Accounting Officer (CAO or ‘Global Chief Accountant’). The CAO will be the key finance executive responsible for leading the worldwide accounting function of a $6.5 billion global technology leader.
As a senior member of the finance team, the Chief Accounting Officer will provide leadership in managing accounting activities, ensuring alignment with Xerox’s mission, core values, policies, and corporate strategy. The CAO will ensure compliance with all public company accounting regulatory requirements, internal and external reporting, consolidation, and accounting operations management. Additional responsibilities will include oversight of our outsourcing partners.
The Chief Accounting Officer will report to the EVP & Chief Financial Officer of Xerox Corporation and will serve on the Finance Leadership Team. Additionally, this leader will interface with senior leaders, corporate executive committee members, and key members of the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the preparation, analysis, and validation of all financial reports internal and external, meeting the needs of the organization and compliance with US and local GAAP and international reporting requirements.
- Manage accounting operations and strategic outsourcing relationships.
- Act as a liaison to outside auditors.
- Provide leadership in support of Xerox Reinvention, an operational simplification and strategic repositioning of the business, enabling sustainable growth in profit and free cash flow.
- Represent the accounting department at board meetings, direct and develop Xerox’s global accounting policies, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
- Advise management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices that may impact operations and reporting.
- Monitor and influence emerging US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC developments, including participation in outreach with regulators and industry peers.
- Coordinate ESG reporting requirements with the EHS&S group and other corporate functions, to ensure compliance with various governmental regulations throughout the world.
- Partner with operations finance, tax, and treasury departments to develop solutions and strategies that support our investment and execution objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including business leaders, auditors, executive management, and the Board of Directors.
- Coach and mentor leadership team members and build a culture that promotes an effective, efficient, and collaborative team environment.
- Interview, recruit, and hire accounting staff as required.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a finance leader with proven experience driving change and transformation within a dynamic and evolving global industry. As a senior leader of Xerox’s finance organization, this individual will be vital in making and supporting business decisions that are aimed at facilitating change and improvement within the finance function and broader corporation.
This individual will possess the intellectual agility and business acumen to understand and navigate a constantly evolving technology sector and Xerox’s evolution to new and innovative technologies.
This leader will have a combination of the following qualities:
- Business Acumen – foundational knowledge of the technology sector with an emphasis on software services as well as new technologies.
- Technical Knowledge – Solid understanding of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations, including experience with capital market transactions.
- Broad Industry Experience – finance leadership experience across multiple industry sectors including technology is preferred. Experience in the Printer/Copier or service/distribution industry and New ventures is a plus.
- Team Leadership - Proven experience in building a high-performing team, developing leaders, and a collaborative approach to drive organizational change and transformation.
- Executive Presence – Ability to interact with and present to the executive leadership team, Xerox Board of Directors, and external constituents (regulators and institutions).
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA Certification; continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements.
- 15+ years experience in a senior accounting position.
- Extensive business experience and strategic knowledge.
- Highly skilled in budgeting and bookkeeping.
- Excellent financial and analytical abilities.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
