POSITION SUMMARY:
Executes routine Occupational Therapy programs, which are planned and supervised by an Occupational Therapist. Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, administers Occupational Therapy treatments to patients, such as Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and upper extremity exercises. Performs functional evaluation as permitted under the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) role delineation policy, and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. Instructs patients regarding the proper dress and positioning for therapy procedures. Maintains an orderly work area. Fabricates adaptive and orthotic equipment. Participates in departmental educational programs. Participates in the development of staff education and orientation programs. Carries out job consistent with the SJMC mission and values. Works as a team member and consistently provides customer service.

- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant accepted by the State of Texas
- Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area
- The ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required
- Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic computer knowledge
PREFERRED:
- Bi or Multilingual
- One year experience preferred but new graduate will be accepted
